From October 1, the rules for online train reservations will be tightened. Only people with Aadhaar-linked accounts can make reservations within 15 minutes of the booking opening at 8 am. Additionally, authorized IRCTC agents will not be allowed to make bookings for the first 10 minutes, meaning they can only make bookings after 10 minutes. In such a situation, it is important to research when to make reservations when the general public is more likely to get a guaranteed ticket.
Indian Railways had earlier made Aadhaar mandatory for IRCTC users for instant bookings to prevent fraudulent ticket bookings. Now, Aadhaar linking has been made mandatory for the first 10 minutes of booking opening as well. With this new rule, users with Aadhaar-linked accounts are more likely to get tickets.
Actually, train reservations are now available 60 days in advance. For trains departing after 60 days, reservations open at 8 am. This is because the PRS (Passenger Reservation System) window opens at 8 am.Therefore, people start booking reservations for trains going to some cities including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh at 8 am. Therefore, a new Aadhaar linking rule has been introduced for IRCTC users.
