Cricket matches between India and Pakistan seldom fail to provoke strong feelings between the two countries. Here is a video that exemplifies true sportsmanship as the eagerly awaited Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan was officially called off on September 2. A Pakistani woman is shown in a viral video on social media praising former Indian captain Virat Kohli.
In the popular video, a woman is seen speaking with a reporter about the Asia Cup opening game. While surrounded by Pakistan supporters, she expressed her appreciation for Virat. She was trying to express her respect when an elderly man tried to cut her off. Uncle, it’s not a terrible thing to love your neighbors, the woman interrupted, “Chacha, padosiyon se pyaar karna koi buri baat toh nahi hai.”
She was then given the option of choosing between Virat and Pakistani captain Babar Azam. Obviously, she chose Virat Kohli. The people behind her booed and yelled “very bad” when they heard this. Here is a link to the video:
But this Pakistani woman received acclaim from the internet. Her “true fan” moniker appeared in the comments space.
Hardik Pandya (87) and Ishan Kishan (82) made significant contributions to India’s innings, which was completed on Saturday with 266 runs in 48.5 overs. In particular, Shaheen Afridi, who claimed 4 wickets for 35 runs, as well as Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, who both claimed 3 wickets, played a key role in lowering India’s score. Shaheen Afridi bowled Kohli out for four runs off seven deliveries.
The match was, however, abandoned due to the persistent rain, so the weather ultimately got the final word. As a consequence, each team received one point. With three points from two games, this result guaranteed Pakistan’s advancement to the Super Four round of the competition. However, India had not yet guaranteed its place in the following round and was scheduled to play Nepal on Monday.
