Trade Between India and Pakistan: India Bans All Imports from Pakistan

The trade between India and Pakistan has been affected due to the tension between the two countries. India has banned the import of all kinds of goods from Pakistan. After the Pahalgam attack, the back of the terrorist country has started to bend due to the Indian terrorist attack. Now, Pakistan’s concern has increased the ban on the import of Pakistani goods.

India Ban All Imports from Pakistan

According to this restriction, there is now a complete ban on the import of any product coming from Pakistan. Be it direct import or through other countries. Below are the list of goods that are came to India from Pakistan.

  • Rock Salt(Himalayan Rock Salt): This salt, used in India for fasting and Ayurvedic purposes, actually comes from the Khewra mines of Pakistan. It is also known as Himalayan Rock Salt. It is one of the most important Pakistani products. It was imported to India in large quantities.
  • Dry Fruits: Dry fruits like almonds, walnuts, raisins and apricots were imported to India from Balochistan and Peshawar in Pakistan. Their demand increased especially during festivals and winters.
  • Peshawari Chappal: Famous for its traditional design, Peshawari Chappal is very popular in many states of North India. It has become a part of the traditional costume, especially for men.
  • Lahori Kurta: Kurtas, salwar-suits and other garments with the famous craftsmanship and designs of Lahore were popular in India. Many fashion brands promoted these kurtas as exclusive designs.
  • Other Goods: India also imports cotton, organic chemicals, confectionery products, and optics used in eyeglasses from Pakistan. Apart from this, India also imports steel and cement from Pakistan.

After this decision of the Indian government, the import of all these products has now stopped completely. Now after the strict decision of the Indian government, Pakistani ships will not stop at Indian ports.This will not only hit Pakistan’s economy but may also affect the availability of certain products in the Indian market. India is already moving rapidly towards self-sufficiency. These supply options may soon appear in the market.
