In today’s digital age, we all use Gmail for our personal and business work. But did you know that the AI that makes your work easier can also pose a threat to your Gmail! According to reports, Google’s AI assistant is constantly scanning your emails, attachments, and even very personal messages. But you don’t have to worry. By turning off a setting you can secure your messages.
How to Turn Off AI Inbox Access of Gmail?
According to reports, AI reads your personal data in the name of Gmail’s ‘Smart Features’. If you want to keep your Gmail completely secure, then change these settings immediately. If you prefer to disable AI features and prevent automated content analysis, you can turn off smart features in your settings:
On Desktop (Browser)
- Open Gmail and click the Settings in top right.
- Now you will see the option of “See all settings”, click on it.
- Here scroll down to the General tab and untick the checkbox of ‘Smart Features and Personalization’.
- After this a pop-up will appear, turn it off there.
- If you go a little further down on that page, you will find a section of ‘Google Workspace smart features’.
- Here click on ‘Manage Workspace smart features settings’ and un-tick both the boxes there.
- Finally, save the settings.
On Mobile (Android / iOS)
- Open the Gmail app and tap the Menu icon (three lines).
- Tap on Settings, then select your account.
- Go to Data privacy.
- Toggle off both Smart features and Google Workspace smart features.
