The India’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has revised its ATM transaction charges. The changes will be effective from December 1, 2025.These changes will directly impact savings and salary account holders using other banks’ ATMs. However, no changes have been made to some accounts and transactions.
Regarding these changes, the bank said that after the increase in interchange fees, ATM service charges were reviewed, which led to this decision.
This is the first time since February 2025 that SBI has increased ATM charges. Go through this article and know how much additional charges you will have to pay after the change in SBI’s ATM transaction charges.
Transactions at Non-SBI ATMs to be Expensive
As per SBI’s new rules, if SBI customers withdraw cash from ATMs of other banks after the free limit, they will now have to pay Rs 23 plus GST per transaction. Earlier, this charge was Rs 21 plus GST.
Additionally, non-financial transactions like balance check or mini statement will now cost Rs 11 plus GST, up from Rs 10 plus GST.
SBI has also clarified that the free transaction limit for regular savings account holders at non-SBI ATMs remains unchanged. Customers can make five free transactions per month from ATMs of other banks, which includes financial and non-financial transactions. However, the new tariff will be implemented only after this limit is reached.
New Rules for Salary Account Holders
A major change has been made in the rules for salary package savings account holders. Earlier, unlimited free transactions were available at other banks’ ATMs, but now this limit has been reduced to 10 free transactions per month. After the free limit is exhausted, salary account holders will have to pay Rs 23 for cash withdrawals and Rs 11 plus GST for non-cash transactions.
No Changes to Some Accounts and Transactions
According to SBI, this increase will not have any impact on certain categories of customers.
- There is no change in the charges for basic savings bank deposit accounts.
- Transactions using SBI Debit Cards at SBI’s own ATMs will be completely free.
- Cardless cash withdrawals from SBI ATMs will remain unlimited and free as before.
- In addition, Kisan Credit Card accounts have also been excluded from this change.
