PhonePe is Now Available on Keypad Mobile Phone!

A big step has been taken in the field of digital payments in India. Now the PhonePe app not only used on smartphones, but also on ordinary keypad phones. The biggest thing is that users of keypad phones that have cameras can now easily scan QR codes and make payments. This is being considered a major milestone in India’s digital payments journey. While it was launched by PhonePe, this facility has started being available on various devices of Nokia and HMD companies.

If you have Nokia and HMD companies keypad mobile phone, then you can now send and receive money using just your mobile number or UPI ID. Users of keypad phones from Nokia and HMD that have cameras can make payments directly by scanning QR codes displayed in shops or markets. Apart from this, users can do all the essential services like checking their bank balance, viewing transaction history and recharging mobile phones on feature phones.

According to Sameer Nigam, CEO of PhonePe, UPI has changed the entire scheme of money transactions in India in the last 10 years. Now our main goal is to take this facility to a bigger level. Bringing UPI to feature phones through ‘PhonePe UPI 123Pay’ is a big step in this direction.This will ensure that the benefits of digital payments are not limited to smartphone users but reach every corner of the country.

Which Keypad Mobile Phones will Support PhonePe?

According to the report, currently the PhonePe app is available on popular models of HMD and Nokia including HMD 105 2G, HMD 110 2G, Nokia 105 Classic, Nokia 105 Single SIM, Nokia 105 Dual SIM, Nokia 106, Nokia 123 Shield. Apart from this, both the companies are working together to provide ‘PhonePe UPI 123Pay’ facility on other models of Nokia and HMD in the coming days.

There are Still 22 Crore Keypad Phone Users in India

In India, about 22 crore people are still using keypad phones. As the prices of smartphones are increasing in the market, many consumers are not able to upgrade their smartphones. Even today, a good keypad phone can be found for less than Rs 5,000, while a good smartphone requires at least Rs 15,000. Due to this, a large portion of the country’s population is still dependent on keypad phones. So, crores of keypad phone users can benefit greatly from this new facility.
