The Union Government has issued a gazette notification for the Census to be held in the country in 2027. Announcing this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Census will be conducted in 2027 and it will be conducted in two phases. For this, information will be collected from people at every level. This will be done digitally using a mobile application.
Census to be Conducted in Two Phases
The ministry said that the census, which will be conducted in two phases, will involve house listing and house enumeration in the first phase. This will collect information about the residential status, assets and amenities of each family. After this, in the second phase, demographic, social, economic, cultural and other information of every person living in every household will be collected. This will also include a caste census, which will be the 16th census of the country and the 8th census since independence. Arrangements will be made for the confidentiality and security of all data. Strict steps will be taken to ensure that this data is not leaked at any level.
Census will be Done Digitally Using a Mobile Application
34 lakh surveyors and observers will be appointed to conduct the census from house to house. Apart from this, 1.3 lakh census officers will be deployed. All these officers will prepare the complete data of the census. Caste will also be asked in this census. It will be done digitally using a mobile application.
