Amazon Prime Video’s New Subscription Rules: For Ad-free Entertainment on Prime Video Users will Have to Pay More Money

OTT platform Amazon Prime Video has received a major setback for its users. Users who are still enjoying break-free entertainment may now have to pay more to watch shows. In fact, Prime Video is bringing ads to the platform and to watch ad-free shows, you have to take out a premium subscription.

Amazon Prime Video Issued a Statement Regarding New Subscription Rules

Amazon Prime Video issued a statement and said that ‘Starting June 17, 2025, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertising.’ This will help us continue to invest in engaging content and grow that investment over the long term. Our goal is to have significantly fewer ads than TV channels and other streaming services.

Prime Video also said that there will be no change to Prime membership on the OTT platform. In such a situation, Prime members will continue to receive other benefits of shopping, savings and entertainment. Additionally, users can also enjoy Amazon MX Player content on Prime Video. However, even after subscribing to Prime Video’s ad-free subscription, MX Player content will continue to display ads. We would like to inform you that Prime Video is already running limited advertising in countries like the US, UK, Japan and Mexico. Now Amazon is going to implement it in India as well. An email is being sent to Indian users in this regard.

Prime Video’s new subscription rules will be implemented from June 17, 2025. For ad-free entertainment on Prime Video, Indian users will now have to pay an additional Rs 699 per year or Rs 129 per month, in addition to the Rs 1,499 subscription.
